According to a source, North Carolina attackman Alex Trippi has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal as a grad transfer.

The Great Falls, Va. native has been a constant contributor for the Tar Heels’ offense through his four seasons in Chapel Hill. Trippi has appeared in 50 games since his freshman season in 2018 and has started in nine of those contests.

Trippi was the Tar Heels’ seventh-leading scorer during the 2021 season, which saw them make a Championship Weekend run, tallying 25 points off 13 goals and 12 assists. He has put up a career total of 74 points off 44 goals and 30 assists during his time in Chapel Hill.

In Amherst, the UMass Minutemen have seen how the transfer portal can both giveth and taketh.

Late last month, former Sacred Heart attackman Logan Liljeberg decided to use his final year of eligibility at UMass as a grad transfer. The two-time First-Team All-NEC selection has been a consistent offensive weapon over his four years with the Pioneers.

Liljeberg has started in all but three games during his career at Sacred Heart and leaves the Pioneers’ program fifth all-time in career points with 138 (73G/65A). He is ninth all-time in career goals and third in career assists. He led Sacred Heart with 51 points off 24 goals and 27 assists this past season.

At UMass, he joins a Greg Cannella-led team where he fits the style of play and should have a pretty good shot to make an immediate impact as the Minutemen loose multiple fifth-year offensive weapons from this past season. However, they will still return a solid core with players such as Gabriel Procyk, Dillon Arrant, Mike Tobin, and others.

UMass has also recently lost a player to the transfer portal with attackman Luke Blanc taking his talents to Marquette. The Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) product was rated as a 4-Star and ranked as the No. 48 incoming freshmen by Inside Lacrosse. He didn’t see any time this past season.
