The Towson Tigers are the first DI program to release their 2022 schedule, doing so on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 6-8 overall, 3-5 in CAA play, and missed the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2011 and first time in the Shawn Nadelen era (2012-current).
Towson’s 2022 Schedule:
|2/15||Towson||Mount St. Mary’s|
Johns Hopkins, Denver
2/11 vs Johns Hopkins: After not being able to play last season, the Tigers return to opening up the season against cross-town foe Johns Hopkins. The Tigers have won every other meeting since breaking their 18-season, 19-game losing streak against the Blue Jays in 2015. Johns Hopkins won the last meeting between the two in 2020, 15-7. This year’s meeting will be the first between the two with Peter Milliman at the helm.
2/26 vs Richmond: The Tigers end the February portion of their season at home against the Richmond Spiders, whom they played for the first time in program history last season. Richmond won last season’s contest 11-10, using a 6-1 game-ending run to come back from down 9-5 late in the third quarter.
3/2 @ Loyola: Shawn Nadelen’s squads heads to Ridley Athletic Complex for their annual rivalry contest against the Loyola Greyhounds. Towson has won two of their last three contests (2019, 2021) by one goal each. Tim Montgomery put in the game-winner for the Tigers in overtime last season to cap off a 7-6 defensive battle. Loyola holds a 34-30 all-time series lead.
3/26: @ Denver: The second game of arguably the toughest stretch of their schedule has the Tigers traveling to face the Denver Pioneers. Since upsetting the Pioneers in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, the two have faced each other three times (2017, 2018, 2019) with each contest being decided by one goal.
4/2 @ Drexel: Towson opens CAA play against defending conference champions Drexel. The Tigers faced the Dragons twice last season, losing 12-10 in early March before falling 12-11 in their season finale, knocking the Tigers out of CAA Tournament contention.
