Gerry Byrne and the Harvard Crimson have added to an already stacked 2022 recruiting class, as Corona Del Mar (Calif.) midfielder Logan Ip announced that he had flipped his commitment from Notre Dame to the Crimson on Thursday morning.
Ip is the second player to flip from the Irish this cycle, following Ben Spinelli who flipped from Notre Dame to Penn State over the summer. He is also the second player to flip into Harvard’s 2022 class, joining Brunswick School (Conn.) midfielder Owen Guest who was committed to Army West Point until switching to the Crimson in late May.
Rated as a four-star by Inside Lacrosse, Ip becomes the 11th member of the Crimson’s 2022 class and third at the midfield position. He is also the fifth such rated player in the class, which now ranks third in the nation behind Syracuse and Maryland, per Inside Lacrosse.
An elite shooter, Ip came onto the high school scene as a freshman with a 48-point (33G/15A). The 5-foot-10, 170-pound midfielder tallied 56 points off 37 goals and 19 assists as a junior in 2021 to lead the Sea Kings to a 14-4 campaign in which they fell in the CIF Souther DI semifinals to Loyola. Ip was named an All-League selection.
