Duke’s already strong 2023 recruiting class got even stronger on Sunday night with Georgetown Prep (Md.) LSM Mac Christmas verbaling to the Blue Devils.

What Duke is Getting:

Ranked as the No. 4 player in the nation and rated as a five-star by Inside Lacrosse and pretty unamiusly seen as the top LSM in the class, there is nor doubt that Christmas is one of the more premier talents this cycle. Watching film of the 6-foot-4, 200-pound junior will likely give many of the Duke faithful flashbacks to the CJ Costabile days, because Christmas is that game-changing type of player. Not only is he an elite talent on the back end as someone who can cause problems for defenses and put the ball on the carpet, but he is a serious offensive threat. Christmas isn’t just a scoop, run, and shoot type LSM either. Having previously played offensive midfield, he has some of the best stick skills you’ll see from a pole at the high school level and has the IQ and knowhow to be successful on the offensive end.

What is means for Duke:

The elite pole joins a Duke class that has already made much headway, landing a pair of elite midfielders in Benn Johnston (Avon Old Farms, Conn.) and Thomas Delgado (Brunswick, Conn.). With the addition of Christmas, the Blue Devils have now received commitments from three players who are ranked in the top-10 by IL and are now in serious contention with the liked of Georgetown, Princeton, and Syracuse for the most impressive haul through the early portion of the contact period.
