The Marist Red Foxes are the sixth DI program and first in the MAAC to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule, doing so on Wednesday evening. The Red Foxes are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 3-1 overall (2-0 MAAC) against a conference only schedule that was shortened due to COVID protocols. The Red Foxes ended their season in the conference quarterfinals.

Key Games

2/9 @ Rutgers: The Red Foxes open the season on the road against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who are coming off an NCAA Quartefinal run last season, and who is expected to be highly-ranked heading into the season. The Red Foxes last played the Scarlet Knights in 2012. Rutgers holds a 3-1 lead in the all-time series.

2/19 @ Richmond: Marist and Richmond faced each other for the first time in 2019. Richmond won the contests 13-11. With both teams expected to be top-tier teams within their conferences, this matchup could be one of the better mid-major non-conference games of the early season once again.

4/2 @ Quinnipiac: The Red Foxes and Bobcats faced each other once last season in a contests in which Marist went on a 5-3 fourth-quarter run to secure the 14-9 victory. It marked the first meeting between the two since their MAAC title game contests in 2019, which yielded a 15-14 win for Marist. The Red Foxes hold a 9-8 all-time series and have won the last three meetings.

4/16 @ Canisius: Marists’ lone loss last season came against Canisius in the MAAC Quarterfinals, where the Griffins won 14-13 and held the Red Foxes scoreless in the final 3:11. This will certainly be a contest which Marist has circled on their schedule as they will be looking to get the Griffins back. Marist holds a 17-10 series lead over Canisius and each of their past three meetings have been decided by an average of 1.3 goals.
