Key Games

3/5 vs Bryant: Vermont opens up the month of March against Bryant in a battle that will pit the reigning America East and NEC champions against each other. The Catamounts opened the season up on the road against the Bulldogs, falling 15-12 in the first meeting between the two programs since 2013. Last year’s matchup saw one heck of a battle at the faceoff dot with Vermont’s Tommy Burke and Bryant’s Nathan Laliberte each going nearly 50-50 against each other.

3/8 @ Dartmouth: During their last meeting in 2020, the Catamounts narrowly skimmed by the Big Green, 9-8, in their final game before the season was cancelled. Their last meeting prior to 2020 also saw a close outcome with Dartmouth winning 9-11. Scheduled almost exactly two years to date from their last meeting, this early-March contests could be an interesting measuring stick game for the two Granite State programs.

4/2 vs UMBC: The Catamounts’ second conference contests of the season comes against one of only two conference opponents to hand them a loss last season: UMBC. The Retrievers took down Vermont 10-8 in their lone meeting of the season last spring, however Vermont had to use a three-goal run in the fourth quarter to pull within two as they trailed 10-5 early in the final period of play. Both defenses were among the nation’s and conference’s best last season and allowed zero goals in the final 7:05 of the game. A defensive battle could be on the horizon in 2022, as well.

4/16 @ UAlbany:Vermont and UAlbany played each other three times last season and the Catamounts came out on top all three times. That includes a 15-10 victory over the Danes in the America East title game. With both teams expected to be top-tier programs in the America East once again, expected another good contests between these two. It may be a preview of the conference title game again.
