The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays are the 20th DI program and first in the Big Ten to announce their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Blue Jays are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 4-9 overall (2-8 Big Ten) against a Big Ten-only schedule during the first season of the first season of the Peter Milliman era.

Key Games
2/13 @ Georgetown: Just two days after facing in-state foe Towson, the Blue Jays begin a stretch of four consecutive games that pits them against four of the final eight teams standing a year ago. That stretch is kicked off with a road trip to Georgetown, who has an opportunity to four-peat as Big East champions this spring. It’ll be the third-ever meeting between these two and the first big test of the year for this Hopkins squad.
3/5 @ Virginia: Doyle Smith is smiling down from above as the cup the bears his name will be fought for once again after two years of the Blue Jays and Cavaliers not playing. Johns Hopkins will travel to Charlottesville to face Virginia, who is the back-to-back reigning national champion, for the first time since 2018. Hopkins won that meeting 15-13 while Virginia took the 2019 meeting at Homewood 16-11. With the past four contests being decided by an average of 2.25 goals, it could be another tight game between these two rivals this spring. Hopkins leads the all-time series, which dates back to 1955, 42-21. The two have split the past four contests.
4/16 vs Penn State: The Blue Jays and Nittany Lions are two teams that were significantly impacted by the difficulties of last season, in many respects, and will be looking to build off late-season progresses to get back on track in 2022. In their three contests last season, the Blue Jays went 2-1 as they won their first meeting of the season 13-6 and Big Ten Quarterfinal matchup 15-7. Penn State won the second regular-season meeting 11-8. This game could be a key game in how the Big Ten shakes out.
4/23 vs Maryland: As has been the case for the past few seasons, the final week of regular season play in the Big Ten is rivalry week and will see one of the greatest rivalries in the sport take place as Hopkins host Maryland. The Terrapins and Blue Jays met three times last season and Maryland won each game. However, after getting beat badly, 18-10, the first time around Johns Hopkins only fell by one, 14-13, in the second meeting of the season and two, 12-10, in the Big Ten title game. A rivalry matchup, expect another close one between these two.
