Key Games
2/19 vs Jacksonville: The Golden Eagles and Dolphins have faced each other seven consecutive seasons in a row from 2013-2020. The two resume their series in 2022 after not being able to play last season. The last three meetings have been decided by an average of 1.6 goals. Marquette holds a 4-3 series lead and last beat the Dolphins in 2019, 14-12. Jacksonville won the last meeting in 2020, 11-9.
3/1 vs Michigan: Two relatively newer programs in the midwest with big brands in other sports, Marquette and Michigan have always been comparable in some way. Marquette has only beaten the Wolverines once in their four meetings, taking them down 16-13 in 2019. Michigan won their last contest in 2019, 13-12. With both programs looking to climb within their respective conferences, this could be an interesting contest.
4/23 vs Villanova: It was a rough year for Marquette against a Big East-heavy schedule in 2021. And heading into 2022, the pecking order looks pretty similar with Georgetown and Denver at the top and Villanova as that third team. Marquette will likely be fighting with Providence for that fourth spot in the Big East Tournament. If the Golden Eagles want to get back to the postseason, a win over Villanova could go a long way. They fell to the Wildcats 19-8 in their final meeting last season, but they did give them a challenge earlier in the year, falling 16-14 in a game that was never decided until the very end.
