The Michigan Wolverines are the 42nd DI team and second from the Big Ten to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Wolverines are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 3-9 against a Big Ten-only schedule. The Wolverines saw their season come to an end in the Big Ten semifinals against Rutgers.
Wolverines’ 2022 Schedule:
|3/26||Johns Hopkins||Michigan||Big Ten|
|4/9||Penn State||Michigan||Big Ten|
|4/30||Ohio State||Michigan||Big Ten|
Bellarmine, Canisius, Cleveland State, Delaware, Detroit Mercy, Harvard, Holy Cross, Marquette, Notre Dame
3/19 @ Notre Dame: In 2018, the Michigan Wolverines beat Notre Dame for the first time in program history. The Irish bested the Wolverines 12-9 a year later in 2019. This season’s meeting marks the first between the Wolverines and Irish since that 2019 meeting and will serve as Michigan’s likely biggest non-conference test. A win over the Irish would be huge, especially right before Big Ten play.
3/26 @ Johns Hopkins: Michigan opens up Big Ten play on the road against the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, whom they went 1-1 against last season. The Blue Jays won the first meeting 14-7 and Michigan won the second 13-10, marking their first ever win against one of college lacrosse’s most premier programs. In a Big Ten that could see a number of programs fill that third and fourth sports in the pecking order this season, a win over the Blue Jays could help the Wolverines be in that hunt and continue to move up as a program within the conference.
4/23 @ Ohio State: Bitter rivals, the Wolverines and Buckeyes met three times last season. Ohio State won the first two meetings whole Michigan won their Big Ten quarterfinals contest, 15-11, to earn their first-ever postseason win. It marked their second-ever win over the Buckeyes. Expect another good battle between these two in 2022.
