The Penn State Nittany Lions are the 44th DI team and third from the Big Ten to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Nittany Lions are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 4-7 against a Big Ten-only schedule. Their season ended in the Big Ten quarterfinals against Johns Hopkins.

Key Games

2/26 vs Yale: Penn State ends their February slate against the Yale Bulldogs, whom they have some very recent history win. The Nittany Lions faced the Bulldogs twice during the 2019 season, losing by one, 14-13, in the regular season before falling 21-17 in the NCAA semifinals. They fell to them 12-10 during 2020. Penn State will be looking to get their first win over the Bulldogs this season in one of their biggest early-season test.

3/5 vs Penn: In state foes, Penn State and Penn will meet in Charlotte, N.C. in the Crown Lacrosse Classic. Penn State has beat the Quakers last time out in 2020, winning an 18-17 overtime thriller on the road. Their 2019 meeting also yielded a 15-14, one-goal Nittany Lions’ win. Expect another close one between these two in 2022. Penn State hasn’t lost to Penn since 2016.

4/16 @ Johns Hopkins: The Nittany Lions faced the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays three times last season and went 1-2. They fell in their first meeting, 13-6, and final meeting, 15-7, which came in the Big Ten quarterfinals. Penn State’s 11-8 win over the Blue Jays was one of their most complete games of the season. After the season both of these teams had in 2021, this matchup will be a very intriguing one and a win could help Penn State get back to where they had been in the conference prior to last season.
