The St. Bonaventure Bonnies are the 47th DI team and third from the MAAC to announce their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Bonnies are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 5-5 overall against a conference-only schedule. They saw their season end in the MAAC semifinals against eventual conference champion Monmouth, 12-5.
Bonnies’ 2022 Schedule:
|2/12||Saint Joseph’s||St. Bonaventure|
|3/11||St. Bonaventure||Cleveland State|
|3/13||Cleveland State||St. Bonaventure|
Bellarmine, Binghamton, Cleveland State, Hampton, Richmond, Saint Joseph’s, VMI
3/11 @ & 3/13 vs St. Bonaventure: In one of the more unique scheduling scenarios you’ll see in college lacrosse, Cleveland State and St. Bonaventure will play a home-and-home series within the span of one weekend. The two have played once prior during St. Bonaventure’s inaugural season in 2019. Cleveland State won the game 18-5. It’ll be interesting how these two contests shake out with them being back-to-back in a span of three days.
4/2 @ Monmouth: The Bonnies saw the Hawks end their season a year ago, falling to the eventual MAAC champions 12-5 in the conference semifinals. However, the regular-season battle between these two was much closer with Monmouth winning 13-12 in a game in which St. Bonaventure led 10-7 with 7:31 left in the third. In a season in which the Bonnies want to continue to push forward, a win over the Hawks would go a long way.
4/20 vs Canisius: Randy Mearns headed things for 19 seasons at Canisius before staring the program at St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies and Griffins have faced each other three times since the Bonnies’ inaugural season in 2019 with Canisius going 2-1. Playing twice last season, the two split the season series with Canisius winning the first meeting 11-9 and St. Bonaventure winning the second meeting 12-11.
