The Lafayette Leopards are the 49th DI team and sixth from the Patriot League to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Leopards are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 0-11 (0-8 Patriot League). The Leopards come into 2022 looking to end their nearly three-year, 27-game losing streak.
Leopards’ 2022 Schedule:
|3/12||Lafayette||Army West Point||Patriot League|
|3/26||Boston U.||Lafayette||Patriot League|
|4/9||Holy Cross||Lafayette||Patriot League|
Binghamton, Penn State, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Virginia
2/12 @ VMI: Lafayette opened the season at home against VMI last season. The Keydets pulled out the 13-12 win in a game that never saw either side pull away much at all. Lafayette ended the game with two straight to cut the lead to one, but couldn’t force overtime or get back on top by the time the final buzzer sounded.
2/26 vs Binghamton: The Leopards last faced the Bearcats in 2020 in a contest that saw Binghamton eek out an 11-10 victory in triple overtime off an Ethan Opdahl game-winner. Their meeting a year earlier in 2019 saw the Leopards come out on top, 13-12, in their final win before entering into a now 27-game losing streak. Expect it to be another tight one between these two in 2022.
4/2 vs Lehigh: Rivals, these two met twice last season. Lehigh took the first game 18-11 and the second game, which came two days later, 14-11. In their second meeting, Lafayette cut it to a one-goal game late in the fourth before Lehigh put in two straight to finish things out. Lafayette hasn’t beaten Lehigh since 2009 and has only won three games in the series since 1993. Could Lafayette snap the streak in an upset this spring?
