The Maryland Terrapins are the 68th DI program and sixth from the Big East to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Terrapins are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 15-1 (10-0), won the Big Ten and saw their season end in the national title game against Virginia.
Terrapins’ 2022 Schedule:
|3/19||Maryland||Virginia||Maybe Neutral Site|
|3/27||Penn State||Maryland||Big Ten|
|4/16||Maryland||Ohio State||Big Ten|
|4/23||Johns Hopkins||Maryland||Big Ten|
UAlbany, High Point, Loyola, Notre Dame, Princeton, Syracuse, Virginia
3/19 vs Virginia: One of the most highly-anticipated games of the year will be a rematch of last season’s national title game. This contest will be played either at Maryland or at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., which would make for an epic neutral site battle. The Cavaliers beat the Terrapins 17-16 in the title game last season and won their meeting in the 2019 NCAA Quarterfinals 13-12 in a game with a controversial goal/no-goal call.
4/10 vs Rutgers: The Terrapins and Scarlet Knights faced each other twice last season with Maryland winning both battles. It was a 19-12 game in the first meeting and 13-9 in the second meeting between these two. This game will likely be between the two top teams in the Big Ten and possibly have postseason implications. It is one of the games many will be circling in the Big Ten and could be a preview of the conference title game.
4/23 @ Johns Hopkins: As has been the case for the past few seasons, the final week of regular season play in the Big Ten is rivalry week and will see one of the greatest rivalries in the sport take place as Maryland travels to Hopkins. The Terrapins and Blue Jays met three times last season and Maryland won each game. However, after blasting them, 18-10, the first time around Johns Hopkins only fell by one, 14-13, in the second meeting of the season and two, 12-10, in the Big Ten title game. A rivalry matchup, expect another close one between these two.
