Key Games
2/12 vs Bryant: The Friars second game of the season comes against in-state rival Bryant in a contest that once again has Ocean State Cup implications as the trophy wasn’t fought for last season. Bryant won last year’s contest 9-8 in a defensive battle. As always, it’s a rivalry game and first game of the season so expect some excitement.
3/5 vs Brown: Another Ocean State Cup contest, the Providence and Brown will meet agains after not seeing each other a year ago. The last time the Bears and Friars met was in 2020 and the Friars pulled out a 13-12 overtime win. With the past four meetings between these two crosstown foes being split, 2-2, and each game being decided by an average of 1.25 goals, you can almost be sure it’ll be another tight contest between these two in 2022.
4/2 @ Marquette: The Friars will open conference play against the Marquette Golden Eagles, whom they will likely be fighting with for that fourth seed in the Big East tournament. Last season, Providence beat the Golden Eagles 12-8 in their first meeting before falling 7-6 in overtime during their second meeting.
