In many states in the South, the regular season is coming to an end or has already ended. That means, it’s tournament time.
The Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) State Championships will get underway on April 30th. A champion will be crowned in each division on Sunday, May 8th.
THSLL Class A Tournament
In the Class A state tournament, Kinkaid, Allen, and Episcopal Houston are the top three seeds in that order, and each get a first round bye.
The top-seeded Falcons come into the state tournament with an 11-4 record and will play the winner of St. John’s and Vandergrift in the quarterfinals. They played at beat St. John’s 14-9 in early April. Second-seeded Allen will face the winner of Pearland vs Lake Travis in the quarterfinals while Episcopal Houston will face the winner of Strake Jesuit and Coppell.

THSLL Class AA Tournament
Dallas Jesuit is the clear-cut team to beat in Class AA. The defending champion Rangers are the No. 1 seed in the tournament and have defeated each of the other five teams whom they have faced in the regular season by an average margin of 6.8 goals. The only two teams in the bracket whom the Rangers didn’t face in the regular season were St. Mark’s and Westlake.
Connor Knight (Richmond), the reigning state tournament MVP, has anchored the Rangers’ defense in cage all season while a fairly deep offense, headlined by senior Mac Hobbs (Penn State), sophomore Beckett Foley, among others, have led the way on the other end. Senior Will Reading (Babson) has been a consistent force at the faceoff dot.
Dallas Jesuit will face eight-seed Austin in the first round. The Rangers beat the Maroons 17-7 in their regular season meeting.
Fourth-seeded St. Mark’s will face fifth-seeded Southlake in first round. The winner of that contest, which could end up being the best first round game, will likely face Dallas Jesuit in the semifinals. In the regular season,
Episcopal Dallas is the No. 2 seed and will face The Woodlands in the first round. They will then face the winner of No. 3 Highland Park vs No. 6 Westlake. The Eagles defeated The Woodlands 12-5 in the regular season, as well as both Highland Park, 5-6, and Westlake, 16-10.
