Former LIU attackman Richie LaCalandra will be heading to the Big Ten next season and suiting up for Nick Myers and the Ohio State Buckeyes, multiple sources have told Lacrosse Bucket.
LaCalandra confirmed the decision to Lacrosse Bucket and has publicly announced the news.
Named the NEC Offensive Player of The Year in both 2021 and 2022, LaCalandra started all 33 games during his three seasons with the Sharks.
LaCalandra led the Sharks with 70 points (32G/38A) this past spring. The Port Jefferson, N.Y., native exits LIU with a total of 160 points off 76 goals and 84 assist through three years.
He helped the Sharks to the NEC Tournament each of the past two seasons, falling in the semifinals to Saint Joseph’s each time.
At Ohio State, LaCalandra joins a program that is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance where they fell to Cornell in the first round. The Buckeyes had the 18th-best scoring offense (13.62 goals per game) this past season and ranked fourth in DI in shooting percentage (33%).
Ohio State is set to return their leading scorer, Jack Myers, for a fifth season. He had 38 goals and 45 assists for 83 points a season ago.
