LIU’s Will Mark Transferring to Syracuse

Former LIU goalie Will Mark will be joining the Syracuse Orange next season. the California native announced his decision via Instagram on Friday.

Twice named the NEC Defensive Player of The Year (2021, 2022), Mark was a three-year starter for the Sharks. He made 193 saves with a 54.5% save percentage this past season as the anchor for the LIU defense.

Mark was named a first-team All-NEC selection and an Honorable Mention All-American each of the past two seasons. He ends his career at LIU with a grand total of 492 saves with a 55.3% save percentage.

At Syracuse, Mark joins an Orange program entering its second season under head coach Gary Gait. The Orange went 4-10 last season and missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 15 years.

Mark should be expected to get the starting nod in cage with the Orange. Bobby Gavin served as the primary starter last season and has transferred out. Harrison Thompson served as the backup, making three starts while tallying 55 saves with a 38.5% save percentage.

Joining Mark in Syracuse will be former LIU SSDM Jake Murphy. He served as the top defensive midfielder for the Sharks last season, causing 10 turnovers and grabbing 28 ground balls.
