After multiple weeks of voting down from eight to one, the Saint Joseph’s @ Yale game in the first round of the NCAA Tournament has been crowned as the champion of the 2022 best games bracket.
On July 4th, the SJU-Yale contest beat out another first round game in Delaware @ Georgetown by 40+ votes.
The first round battle between the home Yale Bulldogs and visiting Saint Joseph’s Hawks saw Yale come away with the 18-16 victory in a tight battle to advance to the quarterfinals. The game saw eight ties and for the majority of the final frame was a one-goal game.
Leo Johnson and Matt Brandau had identical state lines of four goals and two assists, combining for 12 points. On the other side, Matt Bohmer and Levi Anderson combined for six points with a hat trick each while Zach Cole went 22-for-37 (59%) at the faceoff dot.
Yale’s Jared Paquette made 16 saves in cage to anchor the Bulldogs’ defense.
