On Wednesday morning, the Maryland Terrapins announced Jake Bernhardt as the program’s next offensive coordinator.

The announcement marks Bernhardt’s return to College Park where he will serve on staff alongside his brother, Jesse, who is the program’s defensive coordinator.

“I would like to thank Coach Tillman and everyone at the University of Maryland for the opportunity to return to College Park and work with the men’s lacrosse program,” Bernhardt said in a press release. “It is an incredible opportunity to continue this program’s rich tradition and work with their exceptional student-athletes. Now it’s time to get to work in College Park. Be The Best.”

A two-time captain as a player for the Terps, Bernhardt graduated from Maryland in 2013 before serving as the program’s director of operations in 2014. He returns to College Park after a five-year stint as the offensive coordinator for the Vermont Catamounts.

Bernhardt helped lead the Catamounts to consecutive America East titles and NCAA Tournament appearances each of the past two seasons. He was promoted to associate head coach last summer.

A native of Longwood, Florida, Bernhardt still plays professionally for the PLL’s Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club.
