Peter Milliman and the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays landed a commitment from Cazenovia (N.Y.) LSM Forrest Ives on Friday afternoon. A former Air Force verbal, Ives is the second commitment for the Blue Jays over the past week.
Hopkins now has 12 players in its 2023 class, four of which are defensive players.
A three-sport athlete also playing hockey and soccer, Ives is a true do it all pole. Not only does he make an impact as a defender who knows how to put the ball on the carpet, but he also has the skillset to be an offensive threat in transition. He also takes faceoffs.
This past spring, Ives helped the Lakers to an NYPHSAA Section III Class D Championship Game appearance. He put up absolutely gaudy numbers as a junior, ending the season with 36 goals, 10 assists, and 142 ground balls. He went 115-for-174 (66%) at the faceoff dot.
Ives is the second player to commit to the Blue Jays in a week’s time, joining Gilman (Md.) midfielder Warry Calhoun.
