Both the Lafayette Leopards and VMI Keydets announced the hiring of new assistant coaches on Wednesday.
Lafayette fills the vacancy left open by Scott Bieda leaving for the same role at Michigan. VMI fills the open spot left when Mikey Herring joined UMBC in the same role.
Lafayette Hires Erik Adamson
Pat Myers announced the hiring of Erik Adamson as the Leopards’ next offensive coordinator on Wednesday morning.
Adamson arrives in Easton, Pa., after a four-year stint at his alma mater, Denver, as a volunteer assistant where he worked closely with the Pioneers’ offense under Matt Brown. Adamson helped the Denver Man-Up unit, which ended the season top-10 nationally, during this past spring.
He previously spent time coaching in the high school ranks, serving as the offensive coordinator for Regis Jesuit (Colo.) in 2017.
Adamson was a standout player at Denver, helping lead the program to a national title in 2015.
Nik Clinton to VMI
Head Coach James Purpura has announced the hiring of Nik Clinton as an assistant coach to the VMI Keydets’ staff.
Clinton comes to VMI after a two-year stint as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater, St. Bonaventure. He worked with the Bonnies’ faceoff unit, substitution game, and assisted with the offense. St. Bonaventure went 11-4 this past season and was the MAAC regular season champions in just its fourth season as a DI program.
A St. Bonaventure alum, he played for the Bonnies in 2019 and 2020. He started his career at DII Adams State.
