It’s August the the coaching carousel is starting to cool down with the return of players to campus getting closer.
Of the moves that have been made over the past few weeks, the most notable have been Scott Bieda leaving Lafayette to fill the offensive coordinator opening at Michigan and John Hogan leaving Richmond to become the next offensive coordinator at Georgetown.
Those aforementioned moves are just two of many that have been made since mid-July through now.
Here’s a look at some of the other moves we’ve seen in recent weeks:
Drew Kelleher Finalizes Staff at UMass Lowell
Back on July 12th, Chris Jastrzembski was the first to report that former Williams assistant Connor Samuelson would be joining Drew Kelleher’s staff at UMass Lowell. The move has since been made official.
Samuelson spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Williams, where he was the Ephs’ defensive coordinator. He previously served on staff at Hartford, where he was an assistant defensive coordinator and also ran the sub box. Samuelson played at Springfield where he was a standout pole.
Former Ohio State volunteer assistant Ian Moore has also joined the staff at UMass Lowell. This past season was Moore’s first in Columbus. Moore also served in the same role at Lafayette for three seasons prior. He got his start in coach at Arcadia and his alma mater, Ursinus where he served as an assistant coach and the program’s interim head coach.
Eric Wolf Sets NJIT Staff
Eric Wolf has his inaugural staff set at NJIT with the hiring of Sean Eccles and Jack Kearney.
Eccles, a UAlbany alum like Wolf, comes to NJIT after serving as the interim head coach at Oswego this past season where he helped lead the Golden Eagles to an 8-6 record. He arrived at Oswego as the offensive coordinator last fall before being elevated to interim head coach in January. He previously served as the offensive coordinator at DII Georgian Court in 2021. Eccles graduated from UAlbany in 2019.
Kearney comes to NJIT after a two-year stint as a volunteer assistant at Bryant where he worked with the Bulldogs’ goalies, among other task. Kearney got his start in coaching at his alma mater, DII Post, where he served as the program’s defensive coordinator from 2018-2020.
Hobart Hires Chris Fisher as DC
After a one-year stint at his alma mater, St. John’s, as defensive coordinator, Chris Fischer will be heading to Hobart in the same role.
Fisher arrived at St. John’s last winter after serving as an assistant at DII Limestone for two seasons where he helped guide a top-15 Saints squad in 2021. He previously served as a volunteer assistant at Georgetown during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, working with the faceoff unit while helping the Hoyas to back-to-back Big East titles. He has also made a stop at Wesley College.
Mike Zadroga to Canisius
Canisius has hired former Philadelphia-area high school and club coach Mike Zadroga as its next offensive coordinator, replacing Franky Brown who left earlier this summer.
Zadroga played at Marquette from 2015-2019. He served as the head coach at Owen J. Roberts High School (Pa.) each of the past two seasons and also coached with Big 4HHH Club.
