Lars Tiffany and the Virginia Cavaliers earned another win on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class on Sunday afternoon as Brunswick (Conn.) defenseman Luke Hublitz announced that he had flipped his commitment from Duke to Virginia. He initially verbaled to the Blue Devils just 24 days ago on September 15th.
With Hublitz now in the boat, the Cavaliers have a total of nine commitments in the 2024 class. He joins fellow defensemen Luke Jamin (Rumson Fair Haven, N.J.) and Tommy Snyder (St. Anthony’s, N.Y.), as well as Daphne (Ala.) goalie Troy Capstraw, as one of four commitments on the defensive end in the class.
Standing 6-foot-3, 160-pounds, Hublitz has great size and compliments it with even better skills. He has proven to be a relentless on-ball defender who can not only stay with and in front of his man, but also knows how to put the ball on the ground and disrupt passing lanes on a regular basis. Additionally, Hublitz has shown to make very timely and effective slides, and can also impact the game in the transition game if needed.
Hublitz is rated as a five-star and ranked as the No. 13 player in the class by Inside Lacrosse. He is the fourth IL five-star of the cycle to choose Virginia.
