Key Games

2/18 @ Drexel: In the first meeting between the two programs since 1995, the Retrievers opened up the 2022 campaign with a 12-8 home victory over the Dragons. UMBC will once again open the year against Drexel and do so this time on the road. Last year’s meeting saw UMBC take a 9-3 lead midway through the third quarter before fighting off a a Dragons’ run to secure the victory.

3/4 vs Towson: As part of a four-game home stretch, UMBC will welcome in cross-town rival Towson on March 4th. Each of the last nine meetings between these two have been decided by an average margin of 3.1 goals. That includes an 11-10 Towson victory last season. UMBC trails in the series 14-6 since 2001 and have only recorded one win (2020) over the Tigers since 2011.

4/15 vs Binghamton: UMBC welcomes in the Binghamton Bearcats on April 15th for a rematch of last year’s America East semifinals meeting. The Retrievers took that game 7-6 while riding behind a nine-save game from Jason Tingue. Binghamton won the regular season meeting last season 12-8.

4/29 vs Vermont: The Retrievers close the regular season against the reigning America East champion Vermont Catamounts in a game that is both a rematch of last year’s conference title game and could be a preview of that same contest in 2023. Vermont won the regular season meeting between these two 12-3 last season before winning over UMBC 13-11 in the league title game. With all these two squads bring back, this game could very well have postseason implications.
