Key Games
2/11 @ Merrimack: LIU and Merrimack will forever be linked as the two programs moved up from DII to DI alongside each other ahead of the 2020 season. Playing each of the past two seasons, the series between the Sharks and Warriors is tied at 1-1. LIU won last season’s meeting 16-7. Serving as the Sharks’ season opener, it’ll be an interesting to contest to see what this new-look LIU team looks like under Jordan Levine and with plenty of new talent having to step up.
2/21 @ Hofstra: One of the Sharks’ toughest early season test will likely come on the road against Long Island foe, Hofstra. These two have faced each other twice with each winning one contest. LIU defeated Hofstra 14-11 last season. With where each of these teams sit coming into the year, this could be a good opportunity for a marquee non-conference win for the Sharks.
3/11 vs VMI: LIU will welcome the VMI Keydets to Long Island on March 11th for what will be the MAAC opener for both squads. It will mark LIU’s beginning, and VMI’s return, to the league. It’ll be an interesting contest to see where both of these teams are at or could stand in the pecking order of the newly expanded MAAC.
4/15 vs Marist: In the league that has featured arguably some of the quickest power shifts in college lacrosse, Marist has been one of the most consistent programs as a constant title contender. LIU faced the Red Foxes at home late in the year for what could very well be a game with playoff implications.
