Commitment Analysis: What Loyola Gets in Kyle McCarthy

Charlie Toomey and the Loyola Greyhounds gained a commitment from Cape Fear Academy (N.C.) midfielder Kyle McCarthy on Wednesday afternoon. McCarthy is the 11th commitment in the 2024 class for the Patriot League power and the fifth at the midfield spot.

What Loyola is Getting:

Standing 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, McCarthy exuberates a good amount of size, speed, and strength needed to be successful at the next level. Coming off a sophomore spring in which he put up 73 points off 40 goals and 33 assists, McCarthy has shown to be a very strong and consistent offensive weapon from up top. He is an especially good downhill dodger who knows how to beat his defender and put the ball in the back of the net. A balanced playmaker, McCarthy also has shown to be a solid shooter and feeder from the midfield spot up top. With his athleticism, the middie can also play both ways and be an impact all over the field – that includes playing on the faceoff wings and on the ride. McCarthy helped Hoggard to an NCHSAA 4A semifinals appearance last season. He transferred to Cape Fear Academy (N.C.) over the summer.

What it Means For Loyola:

McCarthys is the 11th commitment in the class for the Greyhounds and the fifth at the midfield position. Pegged as one of my best player in the South and ranked as a three-star by Inside Lacrosse, McCarthy gives Loyola another strong option at the position. He joins Eli Harris (Broadneck, Md.),  Ronan Peterson (La Salle Academy, R.I.), Aidan Kammerer (Westtown, Pa.), and Tyler Olsen (Trinity-Pawling, N.Y.) as commits at midfield for Loyola.
