The Lehigh Mountain Hawks are the 17th DI program to release its 2023 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 2022 campaign in which they went 8-7 overall and 5-3 in Patriot League play. Lehigh ended its season with an overtime loss to Boston U. in the conference semifinals.
Lehigh’s 2023 schedule features 13 games with seven of them coming at home and six on the road. The Mountain Hawks open their season on February 11th against Fairfield and open league play on March 4th at Navy.
Mountain Hawks’ 2023 Schedule
|3/11||Holy Cross||Lehigh||Patriot League|
|3/18||Lehigh||Army West Point||Patriot League|
|4/22||Boston U.||Lehigh||Patriot League|
2/25 @ Cornell: Arguably the biggest early season test for the Mountain Hawks will come during the final week of February when they travel to Ithaca to take on a Cornell team coming off a national championship game appearance last spring. The Mountain Hawks and Big Red played last season in a defensive-heavy contest that yielded a 9-5 Cornell win.
3/25 @ Georgetown: Another big non-conference matchup, Lehigh will travel to Washington, D.C., to take on Big East power Georgetown in to wrap up its March slate. The Mountain Hawks and Hoyas played each other for the first time since 2014 last season. Georgetown won the contest 14-11. Lehigh never trailed by more than four and pulled within one twice during the second half. This could be another close contest with RPI implications, as far as NCAA Tournament selection is concerned.
4/22 @ Boston U: The second to last weekend of the season will see the Lehigh Mountain Hawks trek up to Boston for a battle with the reigning Patriot League champions. Seeing each other twice last season, Boston U. won both meetings; winning 9-8 in the regular season and 13-12 in overtime in the conference semifinals. This game will likely have postseason implications once again as both look to be in the conference title race.
4/25 vs Loyola: Lehigh ends the regular season at home against the Loyola Greyhounds, whom the Mountain Hawks have only knocked off once (2021) since the two became conference foes in 2014. Lehigh fell 13-12 in overtime to the Greyhounds last season in a loss that was part of a three-game losing skid to end the regular season for the Mountain Hawks. Once again, expect this game to have high-stakes attached as both will be looking to be in the Patriot League title hunt.
