The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers are the 27th DI program to release its 2023 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Mountaineers are coming off a 2022 campaign in which it went 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the NEC. Mount St. Mary’s will begin its run in the MAAC in 2023.

Mount St. Mary’s 2023 slate features 15 games with eight of them coming at home and seven on the road. Mount St. Mary’s opens the season on February 3rd on the road at Navy. They open MAAC play on March 11th at home against Manhattan.

Key Games

2/3 @ Navy: The Mountaineers will open up their season on the road against the Navy Midshipmen for a second consecutive year. Last spring, Mount St. Mary’s went into Annapolis and pulled off an 11-9 upset win over the Midshipmen to earn its most memorable win of the season. The year prior (2021), Mount St. Mary’s only fell by three to Navy. Will another close game be the result this time around?

2/25 @ UMBC: Playing nearly every single year, Mount St. Mary’s and UMBC have had some very close contest in recent years. The Mountaineers beat the Retrievers 9-8 last spring and the year before fell to them 8-7. UMBC won 13-10 in 2019. Expect another close battle between these two Maryland foes.

3/29 @ VMI: Now MAAC opponents, the Mountaineers and Keydets have played 14 times since 2007. Mount St. Mary’s has won each of those meetings except last year where VMI topped the Mountaineers 8-7. With these two likely to occupy similar spots in the MAAC, expect this game to be an close and hard-fought one.

4/15 @ Sacred Heart: One of Mount St. Mary’s lone two conference wins last season came against the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 14-13. It marked the third consecutive win over the Pioneers by Mount St. Mary’s, each of which came by an average of 2.3 goals. Expect the contests between these two to remain tight in the MAAC.
