2023 Schedule Breakdown: NJIT Highlanders

The NJIT Highlanders are the 28th DI program to release its 2023 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Highlnders are coming off a 2022 campaign in which they went 0-13 and 0-6 in America East play. NJIT’s 2023 season will be its first under new head coach Eric Wolf.

NJIT’s 2023 slate features 13 games with six coming at home and seven on the road. NJIT opens the 2023 season on February 11th at Siena. The Highlanders’ open America East play on March 18th at home against Vermont.

Key Games

2/21 @ Monmouth: The Highlanders will travel to face fellow New Jersey foe Monmouth in a midweek contest in late February. NJIT fell to Monmouth 15-7 last season in the seventh overall game between these two. NJIT has beaten Monmouth once in history, scoring an 8-5 victory in 2019. They will be looking to get back in the win column here in 2023.

3/4 vs Wagner: NJIT will open the month of March at home against the Wagner Seahawks. These two programs met for the first time last season in a game that yielded a 7-5 Wagner victory despite an early 3-0 lead for the Highlanders. They will be looking to turn the tide against the Seahawks at home this spring.

4/29 @ UMass Lowell: NJIT ends the regular season on the road against UMass Lowell in what will be a battle between two first-year head coaches. The Highlanders knocked off the River Hawks in 2021 for the program’s first conference win and came close to beating them again last season with an 8-7 contest in which NJIT led midway through the third.
