The Lafayette Leopards are the 34th DI program to release its 2023 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Leopards are coming off a 2022 campaign in which they went 4-11 overall and 1-7 in Patriot League play. The Leopards missed the postseason.
Lafayette’s 2023 slate features 15 games with seven coming at home and eight on the road. Lafayette opens the season on February 4th at Penn State and opens Patriot League play on March 4th at Loyola.
Lafayette’s 2023 Schedule
|3/10||Army West Point||Lafayette||Patriot League|
|3/25||Lafayette||Boston U.||Patriot League|
|4/8||Lafayette||Holy Cross||Patriot League|
2/4 @ Penn State: The Leopards open the season at Penn State for the second consecutive season. Last season, in a game played indoors, Lafayette put up a good fight against the Nittany Lions in a 20-15 loss; Lafayette led 12-11 at the half. Lafayette being just as competitive, if not more, in 2023 against a more veteran Penn State squad could be a good sign of growth for this program.
2/21 @ Drexel: Last spring, Lafayette knocked off Drexel 13-11 in what was the biggest win of the season for the Leopards. Again in 2023, the Leopards will be looking to get a win over what could be a CAA title contender and thus score a big non-conference win early in the year.
3/4 @ Loyola: Lafayette opens up Patriot League play against one of the league’s traditional powers in Loyola. Last season, the Leopards came as close as they have in a while against the Greyhounds with a 14-12 loss. Being just as competitive or getting a win over Loyola would be much notable for this program.
4/21 vs Bucknell: The final conference home game of the season for Lafayette will come against Bucknell, who returns a fairly solid and younger core from a team that was pretty good last season. In their 2022 meeting, Bucknell beat Lafayette 19-16 in a game that was tight from start to finish. The Leopards will be looking to flip the script in 2023.
