Key Games

2/19 @ Villanova: Once again, the Yale Bulldogs will open the season up against the Villanova Wildcats. The Bulldogs will be on the road in this year’s meeting. Last spring, Yale defeated Villanova 17-14 in a game that saw Matt Brandau put up six points (5G/1A). We could very well see another high-scoring, back and forth matchup between these two in 2023.

2/25 vs Penn State: Yale lost three games during the regular season last spring. One of those came via upset fashion against a very young Penn State squad, 10-6. Hosting the Nittany Lions in New Haven this year, Yale will be looking to return the favor. As has been the case with these two in recent years, expect an exciting matchup and that is especially true given all the talent these two rosters boast.

3/18 vs Cornell: Andy Shay’s squad opens Ivy League play up against the Cornell Big Red, who are coming off a national title game appearance in 2022. Yale and Cornell, having been two of the Ivy League’s best teams for multiple years now, have met twice in each of the last three full seasons. In 2022, Cornell won the regular season meeting while Yale topped Cornell 14-11 in the Ivy League semifinals. This game could very well, once again, be a preview of a postseason battle between the Bulldogs and Big Red.

3/25 @ Princeton: Another Ivy League team who Yale faced twice last season, the Bulldogs beat the Tigers 14-12 in the regular season in what was one of their best games of the year. Princeton ended Yale’s season with a 14-10 victory in the NCAA Quarterfinals. Expect this game to be another big time battle between these two programs.
