The UMass Lowell River Hawks are the 71st DI program in the 2023 schedule breakdown series. The River Hawks are coming off a 2022 campaign in which they went 2-11 overall and 2-4 in America East play. 2023 will be UMass Lowell’s first season under head coach Drew Kelleher.

UMass Lowell’s 2023 slate features 13 games with six coming at home and seven on the road. UMass Lowell opens its season on February 11th at Quinnipiac and opens America East play on March 18th at UAlbany.

2/11 @ Quinnipiac: The Drew Kelleher era at UMass Lowell officially gets underway on February 11th when the River Hawks travel to Quinnipiac for their season opener in what will be a game of two teams trying to bounce back from two-win seasons last year. It’ll be an interesting look at what to expect from this squad under its new staff.

3/18 @ UAlbany: UMass Lowell suffered three one-goal losses last season, one of which came against the Albany Great Danes in a 15-14 contest. The River Hawks open league play against the Danes and will be looking to flip the script from last season and earn what would be a huge victory to start league play.

4/1 vs Binghamton: Last season, UMass Lowell defeated Binghamton 9-7 in a game that saw the River Hawks take a 7-2 lead at the half and hold on through the final buzzer. Scoring a win over the Bearcats again this season could be huge and possibly push the River Hawks into the postseason picture.
