Iroquois Sprint Past England In 19-5 Victory

DAY Four THREE STARS

⭐️ Pete Dubenski, G, Czech Republic

In what was more of a goaltender battle than the stat sheet shows, Dubenski stepped up huge for Czech Republic in their 11-6 win over Germany. Dubenski especially showed up in the fourth to help his team go on a huge game-winning run.

⭐️⭐️ Graham Bergsma, F, Netherlands

In a fairly close contest against Switzerlands, Bergsman led the way on the offensive end as he tallied nine points (4G/5A) in the victory.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ ILLIJA GAJIC, F, SERBIA

In Serbia’s 22-16 win over Hong Kong, Gajic made a huge impact on the offensive end of the floor as a catalyst for that offense, especially during that huge fourth quarter run which ultimately won them the game. Gajic tallied eight points (2G/6A) in the win.

MUST SEE MOMENTS

While day two was filled with lacrosse action all day long, here are three moments that you don’t want to miss from today’s action.

Tehoka Nanticoke’s Crazy Loose Ball

Everything Tehoka does on the lacrosse floor is just better, including picking up loose balls.

Nate Clare Wraparound Goal

The Iroquois Nationals (3-0) were able to take down England (0-3) 19-5 in a dominating victory on Sunday night. Both teams wrap up pool play tomorrow as Iroquois will take on Canada and England will play USA.

Note: Iroquois star forward Lyle Thompson was not in the lineup, once again, after sustaining an injury in the opening minutes of Iroquois game against Israel on Thursday.

Outshooting England 71-30 in the contest, Iroquois was able to use their fiery offense to wear out the England defense and continue to break them down more and more each quarter.

Iroquois got things started with two quick goals from Brandon Goodwin and Randy Staats before England answered just one minute later with Nate Clare diving from behind the net to put it past Warren Hill. The Iroquois really got going midway through the first, going on a three-goal run and really stifling England’s offense.

England ended the first quarter with a goal from Tyson Roe, but that would be the last bit of offensive production they would see for the rest of the half. Starting with two consecutive goals from Tehoka Nantickoe and ending with two from Jordan Durston, Iroquois scored six unanswered to go ahead 11-2 heading into halftime.

Despite England was able to get momentum early in the third with Lyndon Bunio getting the scoring started adding two more later on, the Iroquois were able to take over just as usual. The Iroquois saw Cody Jamieson, Kyle Jackson, and Zed Williams each find the back of the net in the final minutes of the third to put them ahead 17-5 heading into the fourth.

Jerome Thompson and Brandon Goodwin scored in the fourth quarter to extend the Iroquois run to five and secure the 19-5 win.
