Saturday Recap: Virginia Tops Notre Dame in ACC Thriller, Towson Upsets Loyola

Notre Dame welcomed the Virginia Cavaliers to South Bend on Saturday afternoon to open their ACC slate, and the Cavaliers earned a hard-fought 12-11 victory in a contest that certainly lived up to the hype.

For the second week in a row, Cavaliers’ fifth-year midfielder Dox Aitken put on a show and looked like his old self after not being as productive early in the season as he had been in years past. The midfielder ended the contest with four points (2G/2A), which included the first and last goal of the contest. Additionally, Payton Cormier put up five goals.

Danes Ward Off UMass, Earn Biggest Win of The Season

Despite missing three players, including leading scorer Tehoka Nanticoke and starting defenseman Elijah Gash, due to a conference-imposed, one-game suspension following an altercation during their contest against Binghamton on Saturday, UAlbany took down UMass, 13-12, on Tuesday afternoon to earn their biggest win of the season and hand the Minutemen their first loss.

Top Transfer Performances From Week Six of The 2021 Season

Nothing was more of an impact on the college lacrosse offseason than the NCAA Transfer Portal. 

While transfers have always been pretty regular in college lacrosse, the portal turned things up a notch. The NCAA’s Transfer Portal allows players to enter their name and test the waters without permission from their current program. The portal has made transferring much easier for the athlete and with the extra eligibility given to spring sport athletes last season, portal season was wilder than ever.

Saturday Recap: Strong Second Half Pushes Maryland Past Rutgers, Johns Hopkins Earns Bounce-Back Win
