Albany sophomore attackman Tehoka Nanticoke was not with the team on Saturday in the Danes 17-16 loss at Cornell. According to Albany, it was because of an internal matter.

We now know what that internal matter is, as news broke monday afternoon that Nanticoke has been suspended indefinitely by the NCAA for a post on Instagram in which he tagged a stringing company. The exact company has not been released, contrary to some who have said it was String King.

String King told Lacrosse Bucket in a direct message, “There is no reason to believe we are the company involved. We have not spoken  to him, we are not the supplier for the team, and it appears he uses mesh with a colored striker pattern as seen in pictures, which we do not produce. “

In an Interview Albany Head Coach Scott Marr said, ” The NCAA makes a lot of money off of athletes and they pretend to be student-athlete friendly. I don’t see any friendliness with suspending a kid indefinitely for making a mistake.”

Coach Scott Marr shed some light on the situation during his weekly radio segment with 104.5 The Team. Check out that interview here.

Albany has two home games this week, against UMass on Tuesday and against Maryland on Saturday.

Stacey Osborne from the NCAA stated in a reply to a tweet from our account that Albany reached out to the NCAA after Saturday’s game when Tehoka Nanticoke was held out.

Update

Just a few hours after news of his suspension broke, Tehoka Nanticoke was reinstated by the NCAA. The sophomore attackman will be in action against UMass on Tuesday.
