The Monmouth Hawks are the 69th DI program in the 2023 schedule breakdown series. The Hawks are coming off a 2022 campaign in which they went 5-7 overall and 2-4 in MAAC play. 2023 will be Monmouth’s first season in the CAA.

The Monmouth Hawks are the 65th DI program and seventh from the MAAC to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Hawks are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 8-3 (4-2 MAAC) against a conference-only regular season and won the MAAC. Monmouth saw their season end in the first round of the NCAA tournament, where they fell to North Carolina.

Monmouth’s rise from newbie to MAAC contender was pretty meteoric. After going 0-13 during their inaugural season in 2014, the Hawks went 6-8 (3-3 MAAC) and made their first-ever postseason appearance during the 2015 campaign. They went 7-7 (3-3 MAAC) and again fell to Marist in the conference semifinals in 2016, but they would finally get over the hump a year later as the Hawks churned out a 14-4 (6-0 MAAC) record, which included a season-opening win over No. 16 Villanova for their first win over a ranked opponent, won the MAAC and saw their season end in a 10-7 defeat against Bryant in the NCAA Tournament play-in game.

In 2017, their four season as a program, the Monmouth Hawks went 14-4, won the MAAC, and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Just four years prior, the Hawks went 0-13 as a first-year program.
