Since winning the national title in 2016, the North Carolina Tar Heels haven’t exactly been the best or most consistent program in the ACC. They followed up that national championship season with an 8-8 2017 season that ended with a NCAA quarterfinal loss to UAlbany, and the next two seasons after that they went 7-7 and 8-7. The Tar Heels missed the NCAA Tournament in both 2018 and 2019.
Joe Breschi and the North Carolina Tar Heels have gotten a momentum shifting commitment in the class of 2022, as Boy’s Latin, Md., attackman Dom Pietramala announced Wednesday afternoon that he would be taking his talents talents to Chapel Hill. His twin brother, Nick, announced his commitment to the Tar Heels on Monday.
Head coach Nick Myers and the Ohio State Buckeyes picked up their first commitment in the 2022 class on Thursday, as Middle Creek, N.C. attackman Tate Jones announced his commitment to the Buckeyes. Jones announced his commitment via Instagram.
September 1st marked the first day that college coaches (outside of the service academies) could contact 2022 recruits. And Joe Breschi and the North Carolina Tar Heels are one of a few teams that have really hit the ground running in the first week of the contact period, getting three commitments since the turn of the month.
Midnight on September 1st, as it has since 2017, marked the opening of the contact period between 2022 recruits (juniors) and college coaches. And while the recruiting process will be a bit different for the class of 2022, just like this whole year has, due to limitations brought on by the Coronavirus outbreak, there have already been multiple commitments through the first few days of the contact period being open.

This past weekend was full of players committing to continue their lacrosse career’s at the next level. In total there were five player that committed to play DI lacrosse. These commitments came mostly from players in the class of 2020 as well as one commitment coming from the 2019.
Maryland, Robert Morris, Cleveland State, Air Force, and Marist all landed a commitment in the 2020 class. Drexel received a commitment in the 2019 class over the weekend.
