In a rematch of their season opener, in which they lost 8-5 and didn’t count as a conference game, the Manhattan Jaspers took down the Monmouth Hawks 9-8 in double overtime to move to the top of the MAAC standings with a 3-0 conference record. The Jaspers’ win also snaps a six-game losing streak against the Hawks and hands them their first loss of the season.

Technically, week seven got underway with the biggest game in the Big East of the season between Denver and Georgetown going down on Tuesday. On Wednesday we saw Notre Dame took down Marquette and Fairfield beat crosstown rival Sacred Heart.

With UMass finally opening their season this weekend against Fairfield after seeing their first four games of the season get postponed or cancelled, every single team that is playing this season will have one game under their belt coming out of this weekend.

Leading up to Sunday’s meeting, Duke and Richmond had played in two consecutive one-goal games (2019 NCAA Tournament, 2020 regular season). Duke took both games. But today, it would be a much more comfortable margin of victory for the Blue Devils as they took down the Spiders 13-6 on the road to move to 6-0 on the season.

In Hofstra’s 18-6 blowout victory over the Wagner Seawhawks, Ryan Tierney moved his name up in both the CAA and Hofstra record books. His second goal of the game, which came at the 6:06 mark in the first quarter, saw him time the Hofstra all-time career goal record of 140 and the all-time CAA carer points record of 212. He broke both later in the quarter, scoring with :35 on the clock, and ended the game with a total of six goals. He is now 18 goals away from the all-time CAA career goals record of 162 and 22 points away from the Hofstra career points record of 238.
