While many parts of the country may only be a at the halfway point of the 2021 high school season, many states in the South are either on the back half of the regular season or already in playoff mode, except for the NCHSAA (North Carolina) who crowned their state champions almost a full month ago.
Florida and South Carolina will both begin state tournament play this week, with the SCHSL getting the first round underway on Tuesday and Wednesday while the FHSAA gets things underway on Thursday.
Here is a brief overview of each of the 5A and 4A state tournaments in South Carolina, as well as some players to keep an eye on.
Air Force has gotten another commitment to add to their already impressive 2020 recruiting class.
Wando (SC)/LB3- 2020 attackman Tommy Marcoon announced his commitment to the Falcons on Thursday. Marcoon is rated as a 4-star and ranked as the number 92 player in the 2020 class by Inside Lacrosse.
Marcoon is an unbelievable dodger and is able to get to the cage from multiple spots on the field. As a shooter he is able to get it done in traffic, from the island, and from higher up top as well. Marcoon is a goof passer as well with the right vision and IQ to go along with it. The quick and speedy dodger has that QB attackman skill set as he looks most comfortable operating from behind the cage at X.
With Marcoon’s skill set of shooting, dodging, and passing he draws comparisons in some capacity to players such as Asher Nolting, James Pannell, and Pat Spencer.
Marcoon is the 14th player in the 2020 class to announce their commitment to Air Force. He joins Torrey Pines (CA) defenseman Conrad Delgado, Avon Grove (PA) defenseman James Chastain, Berkshire (MA) attackman Chad Teresky, and Cherry Creek (CO) midfielder Dante Orlando as the fifth 4-star in the Falcons 2020 recruiting class.
