2023’s Top Freshmen at Midseason

The college lacrosse season began 46 days ago as as teams took to the field for real for the first time back on February 4th. Now, believe it or not, only 46 days remain until selection Sunday, so that means we are just about at the midpoint of the season.

2023 Schedule Breakdown: St. Bonaventure Bonnies

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies are the second DI program to release its 2023 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Bonnies are coming off a 2022 campaign in which they went 11-4 (5-1 MAAC) and made it to the MAAC title game. The Bonnies will be joining the A-10, its home conference this spring, as the league begins to sponsor men’s lacrosse. They join the league along with fellow full A-10 members Richmond, Saint Joseph’s, and UMass, as well as High Point and Hobart.

MAAC Semifinals: Dobson’s 27 Saves, Rose’s Sock Trick Lead St. Bonaventure Past Siena, Manhattan Tops Marist in OT

Behind a career-best 27-save performance from Brett Dobson, the St. Bonaventure Bonnies took down the Siena Saints 12-10 to advance to their first-ever MAAC title game appearance.

In Year Four, St. Bonaventure Enjoying The Fruits of Their Labor

In the middle of a Wednesday zoom media availability, St. Bonaventure head coach Randy Mearns hopped up and grabbed a multi-picture frame off a bookshelf behind him. Gifted to him by seniors Ryan Burns and Cian Collins when they were freshman, the frame contained three pictures of the Corning, N.Y. natives. One when they were younger and two as high schoolers. The fourth space held a piece of paper, which simply read “Reserved for SBA NCAA Tournament.”

2022 Schedule Preview: St. Bonaventure Bonnies

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies are the 47th DI team and third from the MAAC to announce their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Bonnies are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 5-5 overall against a conference-only schedule. They saw their season end in the MAAC semifinals against eventual conference champion Monmouth, 12-5.

New Programs Have Traditionally Found Success in Year Four. Will That Trend Hold True For St. Bonaventure?

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies went 0-13 during their inaugural season in 2019 and then followed that up with an 0-6 record during the shortened 2020 season. But this past year, Randy Means’ squad finally got over that initial program-building hump and earned their first win, doing so in their season opener against Quinnipiac, taking down the 2019 MAAC runner-up 13-6.
