On Tuesday night, the Holy Cross Crusaders welcomed in the UMass Lowell River Hawks for a battle that would pit two winless teams against each other. One of the two would be winless no more when the final buzzer sounded and that ended up being Holy Cross as they topped the River Hawks 13-9.

Friday Recap: O’Neill’s Heroics Lift Duke Past Denver in OT

With 19 seconds left in regulation, Brennan O’Neill drove from X, got his hands free on a question mark dodge, and found the back of the net to knot things all up at 13 and force overtime. O’Neill would come up clutch once more on Friday night, putting in a feed from Andrew McAdorey on a man-up situation with 3:38 remaining in the overtime period to secure the victory for the Blue Devils.

2023 Schedule Breakdown: UMass Lowell River Hawks

The UMass Lowell River Hawks are the 71st DI program in the 2023 schedule breakdown series. The River Hawks are coming off a 2022 campaign in which they went 2-11 overall and 2-4 in America East play. 2023 will be UMass Lowell’s first season under head coach Drew Kelleher.

At UMass Lowell, Drew Kelleher Gets Another Opportunity to Build

Last week, UMass Lowell announced the hiring of Drew Kelleher as the program’s next head men’s lacrosse coach. He is the second head coach in River Hawk men’s lacrosse history.

Plenty of Room For Improvement at UMass Lowell

UMass Lowell first started playing lacrosse in 2015 and by the time 2018 rolled around had established a solid foundation, and thus was a beneficiary of that fourth-season bump that many new programs often have. The River Hawks went 8-8 overall (3-3 America East) and made the postseason for the first time. They gave eventual America East champion NCAA Semifinalist UAlbany a run for their money in the conference semifinals, losing 15-10 in a game that was saw four ties in the second half.
