The 2024 coaching carousel has begun.

Detroit Mercy head coach Chris Kolon will step down as the head coach of the Titans at the conclusion of the 2024 season. Inside Lacrosse was the first to report the news.

Having been on staff since the program’s inception in 2009, Kolon served as the Titans’ defensive coordinator before being elevated to head coach following the 2014 campaign and exit of Matt Holtz.

Kolon has led the Titans to a 44-77 record as a head coach thus far. That record includes five trips to the MAAC Tournament. Kolon led Detroit Mercy to the MAAC title game in 2018 where they lost to Canisius.

Detroit Mercy made the MAAC title game twice (2010, 2013) when Kolon was an assistant. The Titans won the title in 2013 and fell to Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

With one game left in 2024, Detroit Mercy sits at 3-9 (3-5 ASUN) on the year. The Titans are 7-29 since joining the ASUN ahead of the 2022 season. The program will transition to the NEC in 2025 where they will join Le Moyne, LIU, Merrimack, Sacred Heart, Wagner, and VMI.

After upsetting Bellarmine 18-10 on Saturday, the Titans enter their last regular season contest versus Cleveland State with a chance to still advance to the ASUN Tournament.
