Keeping things rolling here with a review of the 2024 college lacrosse season, it’s time to take a look at who were the top freshmen midfielders.
Jordan Faison, M, Notre Dame
Fasion’s play for the national champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish was one of the biggest stories of the year. After being named the MVP of the Sun Bowl for the Irish football team, the Sunshine State native stepped onto the lacrosse field and continued to thrive as he netted 22 goals and dished out eight assists for 30 points.
Benn Johnston, M, Duke
Johnston proved to indeed be an immediate impact player for the Blue Devils as he put together a solid freshman campaign. The Avon Old Farms (Conn.) product tallied 29 points off 21 goals and eight assists as one of Duke’s top midfield options.
Colin Kurdyla, M, Rutgers
Kurdyla broke into the starting lineup for the Scarlet Knights during the final 11 games of the season and indeed capitalized on that opportunity. Kurdyla scored 20 goals and dished out 10 assists for a total pf 30 points. He had a trio of hat trick performances (Army, Hofstra, Penn State) on the year.
Luke Reiter, M, Vermont
Reiter had an uber-productive freshman campaign with the Catamounts and was one of the most productive freshmen in college lacrosse at the midfield. He scored 17 goals and dished out 27 assists for a 44-point season.
Liam Connor, M, Colgate
It was an improved season for Colgate and Connor was part of that effort. The midfielder churned out a balanced, 25-point freshman campaign with 12 goals and 13 assists.
Tucker Wade, M, Princeton
One of many freshmen who saw significant time and made an impact for Princeton this season, Wade started in 10 contests. He put up 20 points on the season with 15 goals and five assists.
