It has been an exciting Thursday for the folks in South Bend. The Irish received three sizable verbal commitments on Thursday. Brothers Jeffery and Thomas Ricciardelli out of Taft, Conn., flipped their commitments from Penn to Notre Dame and Corona Del Mar, Calif., midfielder Logan Ip announced his verbal to the Irish mere hours after the Ricciardelli brother’d decision went public.

This hot streak for the Irish is, arguably, the best we have seen on the recruiting trail since Syracuse’s run in September when they grabbed four elite caliber players, including Joey Spallina, in just a span of three days.

Jeffery Ricciardelli, an attackman, is a member of the 2021 class, while Thomas and Ip are members of the 2022 class. The two juniors are the 12th and 13th commits in the class for the Irish and push them ahead of Syracuse for the top-ranked class in the nation, according to Inside Lacrosse‘s class rankings.

The younger Ricciardelli is an absolute brick wall and has generated a ton of buzz through his first two years of high school ball. As a freshman in 2019, he started and posted a 64% save percentage. He is rated as a five-star by Inside Lacrosse. Ricciardelli is the first non-reclassified player to either decommit or flip in the class of 2022.

Ip is a dangerous shooter, especially on the run. As a freshman in 2019, he put up 48 points (33G/15A) for Corona Del Mar. The 5-foot-9, 145-pound midfielder is rated as a four-star by Inside Lacrosse and is the fifth midfielder in the class for the Irish.

A crafty lefty finisher and shooter, the elder Ricciardelli broke the Taft single-season program record with 63 goals during the 2019 season as a sophomore. He is rated as a four-star and ranked as the No. 34 player in the 2021 class by Inside Lacrosse. He is the eleventh commit in the class for the Irish and second from Taft, joining his linemate Chris Kavanagh who signed with the Irish on the first day of the signing period last month and who’s older brother, Pat, is a current star attackman for Notre Dame.

It is also worthy to note that Ricciardelli is the second player in the 2021 class to flip from an Ivy League to ACC program in just over a month. Highland Park, Texas, attackman Thomas Mencke flipped from Harvard to Virginia on November 2nd and inked with the Cavaliers on National Signing Day.
