The Syracuse Orange are the 23rd DI program to release its 2023 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Orange are coming off a 2022 campaign in which they went 4-10 overall and 1-5 in the ACC. The Orange missed the postseason.
Syracuse’s 2023 season features 15 games with nine coming at home, five on the road, and one at a TBD location. Syracuse opens the year on February 4th at home against Vermont. They open ACC play on February 26th at home against North Carolina.
Orange’s 2023 Schedule
|4/15||Syracuse||North Carolina||ACC, Location TBD|
Hofstra, Princeton, St. Bonaventure, Vermont
Army West Point, Cornell, Stony Brook
2/18 @ Maryland: The first test of the year for this Syracuse squad will come on February 18th as the Orange travel to College Park to take on the defending national champion Maryland Terrapins. The Orange hosted Maryland last season in a game that saw the Terrapins win 14-10. How Syracuse looks against this Maryland squad could be indictive of how much they have improved and what the year as a whole could be like.
2/26 vs North Carolina: Syracuse opens up ACC play at home against the North Carolina Tar Heels. It’ll be the first of two matchups between these two ACC foes who want to turn things around after down seasons a year ago. Last year, North Carolina topped the Orange 14-13 in a mid-April contest.
3/11 vs Johns Hopkins: The annual rivalry game between Syracuse and Johns Hopkins returns to the dome this season as the two will go head to head on March 11th. The history between these two programs speaks for itself with the two having played 60 times in history dating back to 1921. Last season, Hopkins won 10-7 in a game that was tied at halftime and close throughout. Syracuse will be looking to get back in the win column against the Blue Jays.
4/22 @ Virginia: After playing twice each of the past two seasons, ACC rivals Syracuse and Virginia will meet just once in 2023. Virginia won each meeting pretty soundly last season, beat the Orange 20-11 in February and 21-15 in April. The Orange being more competitive against or beating, like they did in 2021, the team many see as the ACCs top program will be a good sign of Syracuse’s rebound.

Drop Army and Cornell, play 9 of first 11 games at home and 10 of 15 inside the Dome! A bit of coddling the young
I don’t like them dropping Army or Cornell (especially Cornell) either. Many have shared that same sentiment. Not sure why it was done but hopefully those series come back. The Princeton series returning is great, though.
