Syracuse senior SSDM has announced that he will be returning for an extra year, taking advantage of the NCAA’s ruling that grants spring sport athletes an extra year of eligibility due to their seasons getting cut short because of the Coronavirus outbreak. The announcement was made via Dearth’s Instagram on Monday afternoon.

“My coaches, the Syracuse athletic department, and the NCAA have provided the opportunity to return to Syracuse for a other year and I can’t thank them enough,” Death said in the statement. “This team is ready to bring a championship back to Upstate.

In the Orange’s four games this past season, Dearth scored two goals, caused one turnover, and scooped up 11 ground balls. He was also selected as a second-team Media All-American by Inside Lacrosse.

Dearth is the third Syracuse senior to announce that he would be returning for an extra season, joining goalie Drake Porter and faceoff man Danny Varello
