2022 MAAC Preview

The MAAC might’ve gone down as the weirdest conference last season. Playing a conference-only schedule, there were many problems that certain teams ran into. First of all, Marist barley got to play and secondly, Quinnipiac had their season shut down with a week left in the regular-season. But beyond on all those issues, it was a fun league to follow a year ago as every team just continued to beat each other up week in and week out.

2022 Schedule Preview: Monmouth Hawks

The Monmouth Hawks are the 65th DI program and seventh from the MAAC to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Hawks are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 8-3 (4-2 MAAC) against a conference-only regular season and won the MAAC. Monmouth saw their season end in the first round of the NCAA tournament, where they fell to North Carolina.

2022 Schedule Preview: Manhattan Jaspers

The Manhattan Jaspers are the 64th DI program and sixth from the MAAC to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Jaspers are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 5-5 (4-3 MAAC) against a MAAC-only schedule. They saw their season end in the MAAC title game, 14-9, against Monmouth

2022 Schedule Preview: Canisius Golden Griffins

The Canisius Golden Griffins are the 58th DI program and fifth from the MAAC to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Griffin are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 5-5 (3-3 MAAC) against a MAAC-only schedule. The Griffins ended their season with a 10-5 loss to Manhattan in the conference semifinals.

2022 Schedule Preview: Quinnipiac Bobcats

The Quinnipiac Bobcats are the 50th DI team and fourth from the MAAC to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Bobcats are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 4-3 against a MAAC-only schedule. Quinnipiac missed the postseason because of COVID protocols.

2022 Schedule Preview: St. Bonaventure Bonnies

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies are the 47th DI team and third from the MAAC to announce their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Bonnies are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 5-5 overall against a conference-only schedule. They saw their season end in the MAAC semifinals against eventual conference champion Monmouth, 12-5.

2022 Schedule Preview: Marist Red Foxes

The Marist Red Foxes are the sixth DI program and first in the MAAC to release their 2022 men’s lacrosse schedule, doing so on Wednesday evening. The Red Foxes are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they went 3-1 overall (2-0 MAAC) against a conference only schedule that was shortened due to COVID protocols. The Red Foxes ended their season in the conference quarterfinals.

In 2022, Quinnipiac Has a Talented Roster and Unfinished Business to Attend To

Coming into the final week of the regular season, the Quinnipiac Bobcats were one of the most intriguing teams in the MAAC. Boasting a 4-3 record against a conference-only schedule, the Bobcats were coming off a mid-week loss to Marist and heading into their final game of the season (at Detroit Mercy) were very much in the hunt for that coveted No. 1 seed in the MAAC tournament.

New Programs Have Traditionally Found Success in Year Four. Will That Trend Hold True For St. Bonaventure?

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies went 0-13 during their inaugural season in 2019 and then followed that up with an 0-6 record during the shortened 2020 season. But this past year, Randy Means’ squad finally got over that initial program-building hump and earned their first win, doing so in their season opener against Quinnipiac, taking down the 2019 MAAC runner-up 13-6.
